At least 46 Daesh militants and Taliban have been killed in Achin and Khogyani districts of eastern Nangrahar province, an official said on Friday.

Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News 40 Daesh rebels were perished in Afghan and foreign forces airstrikes in the Pesha and Leta Band localities.

The overnight raids were carried out following a tip-off the insurgents had a meeting in the area to discuss attacks on police check-posts.

But Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, claimed 41 rebels had been killed and some wounded in the Thursday night raids.

Separately, six Taliban fighters, including their commander Syed Umar, have been killed in foreign forces drone strike in Khogyani district, said Mashraqiwal.

The insurgents were traveling in a vehicle when targeted by a drone misile, he added.
