The body of a man killed in an apparent drive-by shooting was found in a bullet-riddled car Wednesday morning near a settlement, south of the West Bank town of Jenin.
Initial investigations indicated that the victim was an Arab resident of a village in East Jerusalem, who was driving a car bearing Israeli license plates. The body suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Israeli security forces were searching the area in search of the gunmen.
The attackers reportedly fled towards the nearby village of Anza.
The man was driving a Volkswagon, rented in Jerusalem's Beit Hanina neighborhood. The vehicle carried medicine and bore a Red Crescent sign.
According to Haaretz>, Israeli security sources said it was unclear whether the man had been killed by Palestinian gunmen believing him to have been a Jewish Israeli, or whether there may have been another motive in the shooting.
Three Israelis were killed in separate shooting attacks in the West Bank after a prominent Palestinian activist in Tulkarem was killed in a Monday bomb blast seen by Palestinians as an Israeli-ordered asssassination.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians near Bethlehem late Tuesday night. The three are members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and according to Israeli press reports, are suspected of carrying out attacks against Israelis.
The three were arrested in the Nahlin and Battir villages, according to Israel Radio. (Albawaba.com)
