Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is due in Saudi Arabia Sunday arriving from Cairo, where he held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak concerning “the serious situation in the Palestinian lands,” according to the Palestinian official news agency (WAFA).
A source close to the Egyptian presidency was quoted by Kuwait’s official news agency (KUNA) as saying that the talks of the two leaders centered on “latest Israeli hostilities and assassination of children and Palestinian resistance activists.”
The two leaders reviewed US Secretary of State Colin Powell's recent initiative regarding the Middle East peace, which was read as as a signal of American support for an independent Palestinian state, said the agency.
In Riyadh, Arafat is scheduled to have talks with King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.
Arafat arrived in Cairo from the West Bank town of Ramallah, via Jordan, and was due to travel on to Sudan to meet President Omar Al Bashir, said AFP – Albawaba.com
