Two U.S. military examiners have been flown into Iraq to carry out an autopsy on Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who died shortly after surviving an airstrike, a U.S. general said Saturday.
The two men are to determine the exact causes of Zarqawi's death in a Thursday airstrike, said Maj. Gen. William Caldwell. Zarqawi managed to survive the airstrike and died shortly after, the U.S. military said.
"The autopsy is going on right now as we speak," he said. "We are doing the autopsy to see how he actually died. It will be completed by this evening and will be made public maybe as early as Monday."
