At least five people have been killed and scores wounded in a bombing attack that targeted a local government office in the Kurdish-controlled Syrian town of Tal Abyad near the Turkish border, witnesses say.

Witnesses said an assailant drove an explosive-laden car into the building run by Kurdish local authorities in the town on Wednesday.

Tal Abyad was captured by the powerful YPG militia from Daesh militants last year.

Tel Abyad lies north of Raqqa and had been a key supply line for the city, which Daesh has proclaimed its headquarters in Syria.
