A brother of Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Major General Mohammed, died on Monday at a hospital in London, said reports.
General Saleh, 61, had been suffering from liver problems since the early 1990s and had a liver transplant in London in 1993.
In April 2001, he left to Saudi Arabia after severe liver problems started to appear, reported the weekly Yemen Times.
Early this month he was transported to London for emergency treatment after being diagnosed with severe chronic liver problems.
The president’s brother held sensitive positions in the security and military forces, and was appointed to several high-ranking positions including the head of the security office. He was also the vice minister of interior. He played a key role in the 1994 civil war.
He will be put to rest at the Beyt Al Ahmar cemetery in his home village of Sanhan Sanaa on Tuesday, said the weekly - Albawaba.com
