InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s most global hotel company, announced the appointment of Christopher Lee as Director of Technical Services, Middle East and Africa.
Beginning his career as an electrical engineer, Lee is a professional Project Manager with over eighteen years of extensive experience gained within the construction and property real estate sectors.
Lee’s hotel experience stems from the UK from Conrad hotels, the Savoy group and Novotel, while his commercial sector experience has been developed through PricewaterhouseCoopers, Knight Frank, Brindley Place, Trafford Park Estates and KPMG.
As the largest operator of hotels in the Middle East, InterContinental Hotels Group manages over 70 InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties across the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, Eritrea, Zambia, Gabon. In light of this achievement and the continuing growth of the group in the region, Lee’s primary focus is to protect the owner’s interests and ensure InterContinental Hotels Group’s brands’ standards are met and maintained meticulously in every project.
Responsible for a wide range of technical services, Lee will act as an important liaison between InterContinental Hotels Group, owners, design and architectural consultants as well as contractors on new developments. His responsibilities will include all aspects of equipment design and specifications, project planning and design, and project budgets.
The market is eagerly anticipating the introduction of a new brand, which will make its regional debut in Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh by the year 2006 (InterContinental Hotels Group’s budget hotel concept, Express by Holiday Inn) and has already proven to be exceptionally popular in trend-setting markets including the U.S. and Europe. Designed and purpose-built for the price conscious business and leisure traveller, Lee and his team will be involved in the introduction of this additional fourth brand.
