Saving for her childrens' higher education has always been an important goal for Aysha Reema, a 30-year old Dubai resident and mother of two young girls. Last week, this goal was realised when Aysha became the proud winner of AED 1 million in Dubai Bank's millionaire cash prize draw.
In March 2009, Aysha invested AED 8,000 in the Kunooz savings scheme; today, she is AED 1 million richer. She intends to use her new fortune towards her daughters' higher education, as well as completing the construction of her home in India.
"I am still in shock as this is truly a life-changing experience for my family," said Aysha. "Winning such a huge amount has given me a lot of hope and financial freedom. Knowing that my daughters can have a brighter future and we can have our new home ready faster than expected is indeed a blessing."
A native of Kerala, India, Aysha has been residing in Dubai for the past nine years. She is a computer engineer by profession, and now a full-time mother to her daughters, aged seven and two. Her husband had encouraged her to invest in the Kunooz Value Plus account.
“Our Kunooz Value Plus account has enriched the lives of one more family. We are very happy to see that more individuals and families are able to pursue their personal financial goals by saving wisely," said Ahmed Hamid Lootah, Head of Central Operation Department, at Dubai Bank, "Kunooz has always been a popular savings account because of its simplicity and security. In the recent campaign during March to June 2009, we witnessed a rise of 270 per cent in the number of investors as more customers sought to invest in this safe and rewarding scheme. During the same period, the volume of investment deposits rose by 305 per cent."
He added that the Kunooz cash prize draw was envisaged as a short-term campaign. However, based on its overwhelming success, Dubai Bank has extended the duration of the promotion until September 2009.
Recently, the Kunooz programme introduced a cash prize promotion. As per the promotion, each multiple of AED 1,000 deposited in the Kunooz Account, the customer was eligible for multiple entries into the draw for daily cash prizes of AED 30,000. For every multiple of AED 5,000 deposited, account holders also become eligible for entry into the monthly grand prize draw of
AED 1 million.
The programme offers participants the possibility to win more than once. Amiri cited the example of Husayn Al Balushi, who was the winner of AED 1 million during the April draw. Al Balushi also went on to win AED 10,000 in a subsequent draw only two weeks after his earlier grand prize.
