WACS( World Association of Cooks Society), the highest level of culinary certification awarded to Executive Chef Vinod Kumar of The Country Club Hotel, Dubai
The Country Club Hotel, Dubai is honoured to announce another
significant milestone, gaining further recognition by the certification attained by Master Chef Vinod Kumar as the UAE’s first WACS ( World Association of Chefs Societies) Certified Master Chef.
Commenting on this overwhelming achievement, Chef Vinod Kumar, WCC, Executive Chef, The Country Club Hotel, Dubai commented, “An international accreditation from WACS-the global authority on food for culinary management is on par with global standards. It gives me great pride to achieve the title of ‘UAE’s first WACS Certified Master Chef’. I owe this achievement to all the experience gained over the years which has been the core element behind my success.”
WACS is managed by an elected presidential body which gives international accreditation for Chefs enabling them to demonstrate the highest culinary techniques and other aspects of culinary management on par with international standards. It is a 52-nation fellowship comprising the world’s various professional chefs’ organizations.
The WACS certification provides resources and knowledge for those who seek it while offering the opportunity for each and every member to become better acquainted with their area of interest and expertise. WACS has been working hard towards achieving this and has started the process of offering education with the first agenda being certification. Certifying one's skill level has numerous advantages. It enables the person taking on this endeavor to learn and become better at their craft. The certification gives an added boost of pride and confidence and adds extra impetus and validity to the chefs. It encourages other Chefs to perform better and motivates them towards achieving this certification.
Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) is a non profit organization and an apex body of all culinary professionals which is dedicated solely to the advancement of the culinary art of the UAE. WACS endorses the ECG as the authorized UAE culinary institute. The ECG, thereby, has an international culinary focus and multi-national support for the staging of its various competitions, seminars and events.
Chef Vinod Kumar’s Profile:
Chef Vinod Kumar, Executive Chef, at The Country Club Hotel, Dubai is a senior member of Emirates Culinary Guild. He received a certificate from WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies) as World Certified Chef. He is the first Senior Member from Emirates Culinary Guild to be awarded the coveted certificate.
Chef Vinod started off his career as an apprentice at Taj Connemara Hotel (part of the prestigious Taj Group of Hotels), Chennai, India. He was then transferred to Taj Sheba Hotel in Sana’a, Yemen in the year 1989 as Chef de Partie and was trained by senior Chefs during his tenure at the Taj till he left the organization as Sous Chef. He was also recommended by the management of the Taj Sheba to be sent to France for training in French Cuisine.
In 2004 he moved to UAE and joined Rock Bottom Café in Abu Dhabi as Sous Chef. In 2006, he joined The Country Club Hotel; Dubai as Executive Sous Chef and in the year 2007 was promoted as an Executive Chef at The Country Club Hotel. Having been in the industry for over 20 years he has pioneered many changes, innovations and concepts in the field.
