The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (DCAA) sponsored The Dubai Music Institute's end-of-school-year celebrations that were held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) recently. The largest gathering for young musicians in the UAE, the event was jointly organised by DUCTAC and The Dubai International Art Centre (DIAC).
The musical group that performed at the event was comprised of 500 students of different nationalities living in Dubai. The group played a selection of musical compositions from around the world.
His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Art Authority (DCAA) said: “The DCAA is keen on providing a suitable environment for developing culture and the arts as they play a key role in social progress. While economic growth and development are key priorities, the arts are a source of a nation’s cultural identity. The arts represent an invaluable cultural wealth that needs to be nourished and fostered”.
HE Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Managing Director of DCAA said: “Supporting this musical performance is part of the DCAA’s commitment towards promoting events that drive cultural and artistic growth. By promoting the development young musical talent, shows such as this help advance Dubai’s strategy of fostering cultural and artistic activity in the country. Musical events like this contribute to creating the vibrant, cosmopolitan environment that is an integral part of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to develop Dubai into a leading global city.”
Ruhi Obeido, General Manager of DUCTAC and DIAC said: “DCAA’s support for this event is a tribute to the efforts of all the students and musicians who took part in the performance. There’s no doubt that DCAA’s support will help foster young talent and enrich the musical scene in the UAE.”
This is the sixth musical event organised by DUCTAC since its inception five years ago. Maestro Imad Obeido, academic supervisor of the Dubai Music Institute, conducted the orchestra that played international compositions while Professor Naser Obeido conducted the Oud and percussion instruments.
