The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said Wednesday that a campaign to promote the emirate’s tourism sector had yielded fruit in Germany, as prime time TV viewers had seen reports on Dubai's Burj Al Arab, cruises, horse racing and investment opportunities.

According to a press release by the department on Wednesday, Dubai has been receiving extensive exposure on TV stations across Germany in recent months following the stepped-up promotional campaign.

“More than 3.29 million viewers across Germany have watched Dubai destination features on as many as eight leading TV channels across the country,” DTCM director general Khalid A. bin Sulayem was quoted as saying in the statement.

He noted that maintaining high visibility in the German broadcast media was crucial.

“In present times, a high-profile image in our key markets is highly essential, and we have had a significant amount of on-air time (nearly two hours) in recent months,” bin Sulayem said.

Alongside the broadcast exposure, said the release, the DTCM had also ensured that Dubai remained in the news in the print media, with as many as 14 articles appearing about the emirate in the broadsheets, travel trade, consumer travel and lifestyle publications across Germany, Austria and Switzerland – Albawaba.com
