edaad, a scholarship program that seeks to consolidate the uae's educational base and provide exceptional development opportunities for the future leaders of the society, has announced that it has recently signed a strategic partnership with st. joseph university-dubai college of law to provide scholarship grants to 40 uae national students. the program is distinct from other scholarships as it utilises educational facilities within the uae rather than sending students to universities in foreign countries.
edaad has been initiated by h.h. sheikh mohammed bin rashid al maktoum, uae vice president and prime minister and ruler of dubai. a highlight of the program is that, edaad scholars will undergo an extensive academic training designed to develop them into future leaders in the judicial system of dubai government.
"this project is the first of its kind in the uae that allows students to study law within a prestigious university without having to leave their country. we are grateful to sheikh mohammed for his vision of bringing world-class academic institutions to dubai and allowing uae students to obtain international prestigious degrees within their own country. edaad will certainly help open new and exciting opportunities for uae nationals, particularly promising young students," said adel al shared, director of edaad.
the program, which will utilise arabic as the primary medium of instruction, has been designed to specifically prepare the students to be outstanding future lawyers and judges, through practical training. to complement the exceptional academic training offered by st. joseph university-dubai, edaad has also prepared extensive on-the-job training for the students within government agencies and private law firms during the summer.
uae nationals, including fresh high school graduates, are eligible to apply for the edaad scholarship program. holders of diplomas or employees looking to expand their career development opportunities may also apply for the program. candidates must manifest a strong commitment to contribute actively to the society's development.
aside from offering scholarships, edaad also provides academic and career counselling services to help scholars in choosing their major, selecting the appropriate college and even in internship and work placement opportunities. edaad also organises timely career workshops and creates online career development resources that help students become better informed as they make crucial career decisions.
