Edutech Middle East, a leading international learning solutions provider, will launch the Arabic-enabled version of Xplorer GLX from PASCO, the world’s first graphing data logger for science laboratories, at the 19th Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) 2007, to be held from April 11-14 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition, the company will also launch Boxford’s Rapid PRO, an advanced and cost effective prototyping system for educational institutions.
ASF Karim, Managing Director, Edutech, said, “The core of Edutech’s business is bringing premium learning solutions to the regional market and tailoring them to specific needs, and the launch of these new products is another step towards our corporate objectives. The Arabic-enabled Xplorer GLX is the only one of its kind and is set to revolutionize the educational sector and the way Arabic students perform research whether inside a laboratory or in the field. Technology-based solutions should also be financially viable for our institutions, and Rapid PRO fills the gap as a value-for-money prototyping system that schools and universities can use.”
An award-winning learning innovation, Xplorer GLX is a handy, stand-alone device that enables students to calculate, analyse, annotate, store and print data. Its built-in components include universal sensor ports, 10MB internal memory for maximum data storage and a graphing calculator for trend analysis. Xplorer GLX is easy-to-use with icons displayed on a backlit LCD display and a USB keyboard and mouse can be plugged into the device for navigation and annotation with text notes or recorded voice. Further, plugging into a computer through a USB port will enable Xplorer GLX’s feature-rich DataStudio software.
Rapid PRO will prove extremely beneficial to students in architecture, engineering, medicine, fine arts and archaeology who need to produce three-dimensional models from CAD drawings. Rapid PRO is an economical prototyping system as it uses sticky-backed cards and vinyl cutter. Models can be scaled down to further reduce the cost and can be assembled in few steps, sanded and sprayed and are sturdy enough for vacuum forming and low-pressure injection moulds.
“GETEX is a premium event for showcasing the latest solutions and concepts designed to improve education and training and gathers reputed worldwide universities and business organisations. As a leading provider of technology-enabled solutions, Edutech sees the exhibition as a powerful venue for presenting our range of technology-enabled offerings. We will occupy one of the largest stands this year, and we are confident that visitors will be amazed by the myriad tools that demonstrate the technological advances made for education and training such as the new generation of education robotics,” added Karim.
Edutech will be launching the next generation of LEGO Education robotics called MINDSTORMS Education NXT that boasts of new intelligent brick, expanded sensor capabilities, intuitive programming software and new schemes of work. Students will be able to produce stronger and smarter robots that more closely resemble the real machines with the new robotics’ features: ultrasonic, sound sensors in addition to revamped light and touch sensors; Bluetooth for communicating with computers, mobile phones and PDAs and schemes of work that meet school curriculum requirements. The new software is specifically aimed at honing engineering skills and includes step-by-step guides called Robotics Educator.
At GETEX 2007, aside from highlighting learning solutions in partnership with some of the world’s leading manufacturers, Edutech will also share the latest reports and insights about the contribution of technology to the progress of education with its two paper presentations: “Advantages of Implementing LEGO Robotics in Schools”, an undertaking in collaboration with LEGO that highlights the proven benefits of LEGO robotics to the development of learning skills while Edutech’s Shameema Parveen, Knowledge Officer, will explore the learning needs and styles of the internet generation and the possible shift in practices and curriculum to accommodate the new breed of learners.
Edutech’s stand 1400 located in Hall 1 will also highlight other offerings including miniature R&D products that enable small-scale product testings in food, pharmaceuticals and beverage industries, training systems that will give students a hands-on experience of increasingly complicated devices and sensors for electrical, water and air supplies and another for computerized structures and a solution for scan drive and control as well as transparent automotive models and motorized electronic and electrical workstation.
