EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, was recently recognized as a leader in the “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Content Management Suites, Q3 2005” report. Forrester recognized EMC as a leader based on the strength of EMC’s enterprise content management (ECM) strategy and EMC Documentum product offering.
Since the acquisition of Documentum in 2003, EMC’s regional arm has been advising organizations in the region on ECM, or how to capture and structure, and thus gain full control over, their corporate documents, email, records, and other types of information assets. The Forrester report comes as EMC Middle East gears up for a major campaign highlight for its customers in the Gulf, Levant, and Egypt the benefits of enterprise content management.

New Report Highlights EMC’s Unified Approach to Information Management
According to the report, “EMC’s strategy is to provide a broad, common platform for managing all unstructured content within an enterprise. This strategy is supported by a product road map focused on platform unification and interoperability with all Documentum products.”
“Documentum 5.3 offers ECM breadth and strong document management,” the report continued. “EMC Documentum also scored above average in extended capabilities, thanks to its investment in enterprise search, content integration, and team collaboration through eRoom. EMC complements its ECM capability breadth with an infrastructure-oriented information life-cycle management strategy.”
The report continued, “The EMC Documentum 5.3 suite is based on a services-oriented architecture (SOA). IT developers have a pool of more than 350 common J2EE components – components utilized by Documentum for each ECM application – for use in custom application development. Documentum 5.3 also provides a Web services layer and a business object framework combining data structures and application logic into higher-level business objects.”
