Epson has launched its latest multi-function printer, the Stylus Photo RX640, in the Middle East, offering the region’s photo enthusiasts a sophisticated photo centre that can meet their need for premium photo quality from both digital and analogue image sources.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East said: “The Stylus Photo RX640 builds on Epson’s strong offering in the multi-function printer category. With premium photo quality output and exceptional scanning and standalone features, this printer will appeal to a wide cross-section of photo enthusiasts with varying levels of expertise.”

The new addition to Epson’s all-in-one photo printer range comes with an array of features that include CD-R print, a high definition 2.5 inch Photo Fine colour LCD preview monitor and a 3200dpi scanner with built-in transparency unit. The Epson Stylus Photo RX640 makes printing at home even more affordable, allowing users to replace only the used cartridge out of the six individual ink cartridges that the device features.

Incorporating Epson’s superior print technology, the RX640 ensures consistently high quality prints every time as its minimum droplet size of 1.5pl with Variable-Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) results in smooth, detailed photos.  Borderless photos can be made in less than a minute.

The multi-function printer also includes Epson’s PhotoEnhance technology, which automatically detects the image type and adjusts image brightness and contrast accordingly to ensure optimal quality prints. For example, when an image is detected as “portrait”, PhotoEnhance makes the face brighter and the contrast softer.  When the image is detected as “landscape”, the contrast is increased, accentuating detail and texture.

The printer’s high definition 2.5 inch Photo Fine colour LCD preview monitor features a resolution of 256 ppi (pixels per inch) that displays sharp, detailed images. Its CD/DVD print function allows users to print their unique images directly onto the surface of inkjet printable CDs, by simply switching from the paper output tray to the CD-R tray via a one touch lever.

The 3200 x 6400 dpi MatrixCCD scanner allows users to capture detailed images and sharp, well-defined copies and enlargements of photos. Its integrated transparency unit facilitates scanning and printing directly from positive and negative film sources.

The printer incorporates Epson’s Easy Photo Fix technology, which automatically restores colour to old, faded photos and film while scanning, and removes dust marks, ingrained dirt and minor scratches, through its dust removal function for negative and positive film scanning.

An intuitive user interface makes the Epson Stylus Photo RX640 easy to use for photo enthusiasts at all levels of ability and experience, allowing them to print, scan and copy direct from memory cards, PictBridge and USB DIRECT-PRINT digital cameras, as well as selected USB flash memory devices. A Bluetooth module can also be used to print directly from Bluetooth enabled mobile phones.

“Epson’s multi-purpose printers offer total value for money by integrating several important functions in a single product. The Stylus Photo RX640 combines advanced Epson technology with space-saving features to meet the needs of a growing regional market for affordable all-in-one devices,” El-Dalu concluded.
