ALBAWABA - Dozens of people were injured in an explosion that was reported inside a building in downtown Tehran, local media reported on Sunday.
The spokesperson of the firefighting department in Tehran, Seyed Jalal Maleki, confirmed the explosion that occurred on Saturday night adding that 10 people were injured. In addition, he said the building was completely destroyed.
An early report by Jalali suggested that 10 people were injured, however, authorities said they are looking for more under rubble and debris.
Meanwhile, Tehran’s emergency department stressed that 21 people were injured in the 3-floor building collapse.
The emergency department confirmed that out of the 21 injured 11 were taken to the hospital for treatment, meanwhile, 10 others were treated on an outpatient basis.
The explosion was due to a gas leak, authorities and emergency services confirmed.
