ALBAWABA - Scores of the Sudanese Armed Forces troops were seen taking control of three bridges linking the cities of Khartoum, Khartoum Bahri, and Omdurman.

Local reports confirm that the Sudanese Army launched an "unprecedented" operation across the capital city, starting near dawn.

Several local media outlets have reported that the army launched airstrikes on RSF locations in Khartoum and Khartoum North. The paramilitary organization took control of these sites when the crisis broke out in April 2023.

Early on Thursday morning, fighting allegedly broke out close to the RSF-seized important Al-Istritagia headquarters in western Khartoum, which was taken in June.

According to Al Jazeera, the army has taken control of the three major bridges that link Omdurman, the capital, and its soldiers are moving in the direction of the presidential palace, where there has reportedly been intense fighting.

The army also attacked RSF positions with heavy bombardment, and the RSF responded with shells that fell north of Omdurman.

During a strong attack in February, the army regained sections of Omdurman from the RSF. It lost control of the majority of the capital to the paramilitary group at the outset of the crisis in April and has since been unable to drive it out of Khartoum.
