ALBAWABA - An explosion in a fireworks factory in the Philippines killed two people and left at least five others wounded, AFP reported citing local authorities on Thursday.

The factory, which is located near the Philippine capital, triggered a massive fire and a cloud of black smoke seen rising in the sky.

Authorities revealed that an explosion report was made at a factory near Cabuyao city, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of Manila.

According to the Philippine government, the blaze has left many victims with severe burns.

Cabuyao police officer Dominador Agcaoili said: "We're still trying to identify the casualties. At least five were seriously injured and one of them is in intensive care" at a local hospital, AFP reported.

Nonetheless, the Mayor revealed that the fireworks factory's blast also crashed windows at some homes in the village where the factory is located.
