Four people died and seven others were injured on Monday when a bus collided with a trailer in Minya, Upper Egypt.

Preliminary police investigations at the scene of the accident, on the Eastern Desert Road, show the accident occurred when the truck driver lost control of the wheel due to excessive speed.

The injured suffered bone fractures and concussions.

According to figures by Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS), in 2014 a total of 14,403 road accidents in the country led to the death of 6,226 people and the injury of 24,154 others.
