Friday (Al Jum’aa) Abdali Popular Market came back to life after a two week closure for planning and organization purposes meant to facilitate activities on the part of the vendors and the buyers. Executive Director of Public Markets Directorate at Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), Firas Al Kurdi, ascertained that reopening the market for the vendors before completing the organizational measures aims at facilitating for citizens purchasing mission and moving on the adopted procedures.
He said that GAM will resume organizing, planning and providing easy steps during the whole week to eliminate random sale, to maintain general cleanliness, health and public safety, and to avoid pressure on vendors and citizens.
Many vendors and citizens expressed their gratitude for GAM’s move to reopen the market before the previously set date, although the number of buyers is noticeably reduced after the two week closure.
Citizen Sbeih Ghaith said that working in the market again gave him great pleasure because it is a very important resource for his family to earn living. Another citizen, Mahmoud Mohammed Hasan cited his appreciation to GAM for shortening the period of the reopening process, and keeping its work with the market’s operation continuing, describing the decision as positive and wise.
Citizen Mohammed Al Abdallah was also glad for the reopening, highlighting the rising prices of the displayed products compared to those of the past years.
