Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) launched an environmental awareness campaign targeting Amman residents and visitors from the Kingdom governorates as well as Arab and foreign tourists, titled "Amman Baitna" (Amman, Our Home).
The campaign is built on basic elements, environment, health, services, transportation and traffic, the City's urban heritage and culture; it aims at promoting the good citizenship concept among the citizens through encouraging and engaging them in the process of conserving their city as part of their identity.
The 1st phase of "Amman Baitna" includes working on the 1st element, the environment, and achieving the main goal of this element "Amman an Environmentally Friend City". The adopted strategy to realize this phase is clarifying the concept of "conserving environment" by eliminating several habits and phenomena such as throwing wastes out of the vehicles, road accidents, raising the traffic awareness through distributing around 100 thousands packets to collect garbage inside the vehicles.
It is important to note that last year, 66354 violation tickets had been issued in regards to throwing wastes out of the vehicles' windows.
