Israeli fire killed a Palestinian activist in the north of the Gaza Strip early on Wednesday, medics said, hours before US President George W. Bush was to arrive in the region.
The Palestinian killed belonged to the Islamic Jihad group, they said, according to AFP. An official from the Islamic Jihad faction said several of its members were hit by an Israeli missile after they fired four makeshift rockets into southern Israel.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said the military carried out "an attack on a rocket-launching cell in Beit Lahiya" after gunners fired four projectiles into Israel.
