Hamas government says Gaza war death toll surpasses 14,000.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has announced that the Palestinian death toll in the ongoing war with Israel has surpassed 14,000, including more than 5,000 children and 3,500 women. The ministry also said that more than 30,000 people have been wounded, many of them critically, since Israel launched its military campaign on October 7.
The United Nations reports that more than 1.8 million people have been displaced by the conflict, and that the humanitarian situation in the besieged territory is dire.
Human rights groups and international observers have accused Israel of using excessive and indiscriminate force, and of violating international law and humanitarian norms. They have documented numerous cases of Israeli attacks on civilian buildings, such as homes, schools, hospitals, and media offices, as well as on vital infrastructure, such as water, electricity, and sanitation facilities.
