Greater Amman Municipality Conducts Back-Up Campaigns to Fight Vermin
The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has launched new back-up campaigns to fight all kind of vermin in its 27 regions. GAM Deputy City Director for Public Services, Eng. Moustafa Al-Lawzi said the campaigns are part of the Municipality’s keenness to preserve the public health and safety throughout the year. He said that the Municipality will tackle all complaints raised by the citizens, along with such campaigns, to control the pests in all regions.
Director of GAM Department of Anti-Vermin and Animal Protection, Eng. Shtoura Al-Adwan pointed out that the campaigns began in Husban region, focusing on all the regions that were recently annexed to the Municipality. She said that specialized cadres of qualified personnel were formed to conduct the campaigns, in cooperation with directors of GAM regions, plus the health centers and environmental institutions in each region.
Back-up campaigns include day and night spraying of pesticides, and placing decoys for pests. Cadres will also follow-up on areas where vermin usually grow whether they are rats, pests or fleas, in a way to prevent their spreading and control the use of pesticides.
Al-Adwan called on all citizens to cooperate with the department’s cadres in this health-oriented activity, by following the advices and instructions that can help in fighting vermin, and protecting the environment by minimum use of pesticides.
In the same context, GAM continues its regular summer campaigns which were launched in May, to fight vermin around the Capital. These campaigns will last, as scheduled, until the end of summer.
