A local news source reports police have surrounded and sealed off the premises.

The incident follows the a hostage situation which took place on Tuesday in an Istanbul courthouse. A public prosecutor, identified as Mehmet Selim Kiraz, was taken hostage by three men at around 12:30 pm Turkish time on the on the sixth floor of the Okmeydani district courthouse.

He has since passed away from a fatal gunshot wound.

Kiraz was handling the case of Berkin Elvan, who was critically injured during the 2013 Gezi Park protests and died in March 2014 after being in a coma for 269 days.

It is suspected the hostage-takers were linked to the outlawed Marxist Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C)

Twenty-two students linked to DHKP-C were arrested in Antalya on earlier today.
