ALBAWABA- Heavy gunfire has erupted once again inside Ain Al Hilweh, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, raising concerns over the safety of over 60,000 displaced Palestinian inhabitants residing in the camp.
The renewal of clashes among Palestinian factions after a ceasefire deal that survived for almost a month, is a grave warning, as it threatens disastrous consequences for those already affected by displacement. The camp, situated near the southern port city of Sidon, is home to Palestinian refugees.
Notably, clashes in Ain Al Hilweh began in late July when an unidentified assailant attempted to assassinate Islamist militant Mahmoud Khalil.
Tragically, it was his associate who lost their life in the attack. During these clashes, dozens of Palestinian residents from various factions in the camp were both killed and injured.
