Heavy vehicle driver is 1 Kilo Gold Al Awwal Winner
- Jubilant Indian expat says spur of the moment decision to invest in UNB’s Al Awwal certificate has changed his life -
Vanrose Singh, a 37-year old heavy vehicle driver from Tamil Nadu, India, was the grand prize winner of UNB’s (Union National Bank) Al Awwal savings certificate Scratch & Win promotion that was conducted last month. Singh who won a kilo of gold as the grand prize said the decision to invest in Al Awwal has changed his life and he would now be able to fund his children’s higher education.
“I am thrilled and excited beyond words to have won the kilo of gold. I have participated in lucky draws and contests all my life but this is the first time I have ever won anything,” said Singh who came to the UAE five years ago and currently works for a Dubai-based transport company.
“I bought the Al Awwal savings certificate on the spur of the moment when I visited a UNB branch in Dubai to encash a cheque,” he explained. “Now I thank God that I took that decision although I never dreamt then that this would be my reward. This prize will help pay for my children’s college fees,” said Singh who has three school going children in India.
Singh’s name was among the 101 names that were picked during the lucky draw. Other lucky draw prizes offered by UNB during the promotion included gold coins, televisions, LCD TVs and mobile phones. More than10,000 instant prizes were also offered to Al Awwal investors during the Al Awwal Scratch & Win promotion held between March 2nd and May 11th, 2008.
