Hezbollah and the Syrian army captured a new position in east Zabadani Sunday, in a push that left scores of militants either dead or wounded, the party’s Al-Manar TV reported.

The allied forces captured the Hay al-Hikmah neighborhood, according to the report.

One Hezbollah fighter died in Sunday’s advance, bringing the party’s death toll to four in the past twenty four hours, according to a security source.

Earlier, a security source told The Daily Star that three Hezbollah fighters were killed during Saturday clashes in Zabadani.

Footage aired on Al-Manar showed the corpse of a militant. However, an exact death toll was not reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britan-based monitoring group, reported that at least two rebel fighters were killed on Saturday.

Hezbollah and the Syrian army have been advancing in recent days in Zabadani's southwestern region after gaining control over large parts of the city and trapping rebels in the center.

Sunday's casualties bring the total Hezbollah death toll to 25 during the month-long battle for control of the city, located just 8 kilometers from Lebanon's eastern border.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army Saturday destroyed a militant vehicle on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, killing all the passengers in the car.
