Hörmann KG, Europe’s leading manufacturer of doors for private and commercial buildings, announced today (Tuesday, November 24, 2009) at a press conference that it has established its own foreign subsidiary in the Middle East. Headquartered in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, Hörmann Middle East FZE will provide complete solutions for doors and loading sites as well as a comprehensive range of related services backed by Hörmann KG’s extensive project experience. The press conference was held on the sidelines of the company’s participation in the Big 5 International Building & Construction Show running from November 23 to 26, 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hörmann Middle East recently moved into its Dubai offices with an adjacent warehouse area of 1,500 square metres. In addition to business in the UAE, the sales team of Hörmann Middle East will also cover Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran and Kuwait. The company is also establishing ties with dealers and fitting companies in the region to further improve delivery times.
Christoph Hormann, Owner of Hörmann KG, said: “The numerous expansion prospects available throughout the Middle East’s resilient property and construction markets influenced our decision to set up a permanent base in the region. This follows the establishment of other subsidiaries in key markets such as India and Greece. The global crisis has not deterred us from pushing forward with our long-term growth plans, and we feel that the Middle East in particular offers exceptional potential within the coming months.â€
“For the past years we have been selling in the Middle East through a network of agents and distributors. We decided to establish our Dubai subsidiary as we are keen on exploring the untapped opportunities of this market even further. Although our current focus is on the UAE, we are also eyeing prospects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iran and Egypt. The advantage of setting up our regional hub in the Jebel Ali Free Zone is that we are easily accessible to the GCC and the rest of the Middle East,†added Darius Khanloo, Managing Director of Hörmann Middle East.
Hörmann Middle East is initially marketing door solutions particularly geared towards logistics and production facilities. It currently offers private building owners a sectional garage door specifically developed for the Middle Eastern market: the automatic sectional door (DSU). This door is manufactured in Germany, assembled in the UAE and can be at the customer’s premises in just one week.
Thanks to a wide range of dock levellers, industrial sectional doors, rolling shutters, dock shelters, operators, and an extensive selection of accessories, Hörmann KG offers its customers complete systems for modern loading sites. High-speed doors with rigid or flexible curtains complete the offering, providing solutions for any type of building opening. Also, administrative areas can be equipped with fire and smoke-tight doors, as well as top-class office doors.
Present in over 60 countries, the Hörmann Group is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of sectional garage doors, industrial doors, operators, dock levellers, fire and smoke-tight door assemblies, frames and entrance doors. The company has its headquarters in Steinhagen, Germany, and now includes 23 plants specialising in specific product groups. Founded in 1935, the company is managed by grandchildren and great-grandchildren of company founder August Hörmann, who coined the company motto “Quality without Compromiseâ€. Exceptionally high quality standards and numerous product innovations are the secrets to Hörmann’s success. The family-owned company currently reports global sales of over EUR1 billion and employs 6,000 workers.
