ALBAWABA - Pakistan announced on Wednesday the killing of three citizens in an attack by the Houthi militias on a commercial ship in the Red Sea, said Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Islamabad strongly condemned the Iranian-backed group's attack on the commercial vessel that killed three Pakistani nationals.
"Three Pakistani nationals have lost their lives, and one has sustained injuries in the incident," Dar said via X, adding, "We are in contact with the relevant Saudi authorities, as well as the internationally recognized Government of Yemen, to ascertain further details of the incident and the circumstances surrounding it."
The minister continued, "I have directed our Embassy in Riyadh to immediately coordinate with the concerned authorities, and to strongly pursue all necessary measures for the retrieval and repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased Pakistani nationals and for the provision of all possible assistance to the injured Pakistani national."
It also called the strike on the ship a violation of international law and a threat to maritime security.
In addition, the Yemeni coastguard revealed that at least six people were killed in several Houthi strikes on a cargo vessel near the Bab al Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea.
