hyundai elantra wins autocar middle east award for best small car of 2007

Hyundai’s Elantra has won the Autocar Middle East Awards 2007 for Best Small Car, in a ceremony held at Jumeirah Beach Hotel recently.

Competing against the likes of Peugeot’s 207 GT and the Suzuki SX4, the Elantra, distributed throughout the UAE by Juma Al Majid EST, went through a gruelling three day test conducted by leading independent auto journalists and experts. The cars were tested at the Dubai Autodrome which included a day of static judging, on road testing and track testing.

The Autocar Middle East Awards are attended by most auto manufacturers and distributors in the UAE; the awards happen every year and participants provide various models in the selected categories to contest for the best car.

Mr. Isam Abu Nabah, President of Hyundai in Juma Al Majid Est. says that this award is a clear manifestation of the state of the art technology Hyundai is producing and introducing to the local market.

“Elantra won on the basis of design, size, handling, performance, and above all, value for money,” he says. “This award is an honour for Hyundai and Juma Al Majid Est.”

The Autocar Middle East Award ceremony is held every year after extensive testing of competing car models by seven expert judges from the motoring industry.

A completely new design from the ground up, the 2007 Elantra is one of Hyundai’s most coveted and best-selling C-segment cars in the world.

“It delivers more interior space than competing cars in its class, and a level of ride and handling refinement that’s both agile and comfortable,” says Mr. Isam
“It’s clear that Elantra offers unbeatable value, so buying a relatively small car no longer means making compromises on comfort, room, appearance, driving character, safety or value. The Elantra is an achiever in all of these areas and this award does justice to all the work that has gone into making this car what it is.”
