Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said in Tehran Tuesday that the Persian Gulf regional countries should try to reconsider their security systems.
Making the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 15th International Gathering on the Persian Gulf, he said the positive developments in Iran's relations with the Persian Gulf states in recent years have paved the way for the formation of new comprehensive security systems in the region, IRNA reported.
He also noted that Iran as well as other regional countries have left the phase of advocating the policy of detente behind and were now working to consolidate confidence.
