ALBAWABA - Israeli occupation forces have detained the guard of the Greek Consulate from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre during the celebration of Holy Light in occupied Jerusalem.

Amidst increased security, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem saw a precious moment when Jesus Christ's tomb lit up. A wide crowd of believers and clergy from several Christian religions participated in the ceremony.

This year's Old City of Jerusalem celebrations were more peaceful, with religious observances taking priority. Scouting and other holiday events were canceled due to the Gaza situation. Israeli officials increased security around the Old City to manage religious ceremonies.

Christian Holy Saturday, commemorated on the Eastern calendar, is important. This day, believers anointed themselves with Christ's tomb light and passed their hands over it before it became a sign of lighting on their candles.

The seventh day of Holy Week commemorates Christ's arrival into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, his crucifixion, and resurrection. Holy Saturday is significant for Christians worldwide after the Great Lent, a forty-day fast and meditation.
