A Palestinian boy aged 9 was killed Monday evening by Israeli occupation soldiers in a West Bank village adjacent to Ramallah.
Earlier, Israeli security forces arrested 24 Palestinians in the West Bank on Monday morning. Three of the men were arrested in the towns of Hebron and Bethlehem, while the rest were reportedly stopped in and around the cities of Ramallah, Tul Karem, Qalqilia, and Jenin, in the northern West Bank.
The arrests follow an announcement by Israeli military authorities that they would cease Israeli operations in the West Bank beginning Monday to allow for procedures to run as scheduled of the upcoming Palestinian parliamentary elections in Wednesday.
Military operations will resume following the elections.
Israeli officials, however, stressed that the decision would exclude operations against what they termed “ticking bombs,” according to Ynet, alluding to concrete information about planned attacks against Israeli soldiers or civilians.
The added that they had several leads pointing to such potential cases amongst the Islamic Jihad movement in the West Bank.
