ALBAWABA - The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation has reported that the Israeli government is poised to announce the defeat of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, following the recent battle in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
This announcement comes despite numerous former Israeli military leaders asserting that defeating Hamas is unfeasible. The anticipated declaration is expected amidst rising tensions and the possibility of an escalated military conflict with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Talk of defeating the Al-Qassam Brigades contradicts numerous Israeli military analyses, the latest of which was expressed by IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari. Hagari stated that claims of destroying Hamas are merely to mislead the Israeli public, emphasizing that as long as Netanyahu's government fails to find an alternative to Hamas, the movement will persist.
In an interview with Channel 13, Hagari described Hamas as an idea deeply ingrained in people's hearts, which cannot be eradicated.
Additionally, a former Israeli general acknowledged the defeat of the Israeli occupation army by Palestinian resistance in Gaza. He warned of Israel's inability to engage in a "potential regional war," given the ongoing escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
In his article in Maariv, Reserve General Yitzhak Brick stated that "Israel lost the war on the Gaza front with Hamas, partly due to the erosion of our ground forces over the past 20 years."
Haaretz reported that Israeli security and military leaders, as well as officials, criticized in closed meetings the lack of a political strategy to end the war in Gaza. The newspaper confirmed that officials denounced the demand to overthrow Hamas and destroy its capabilities, formulated under pressure without realistic goals.
