ALBAWABA - In response to recent remarks made by Hamas leader overseas, Khaled Mashal, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, directly threatened to kill Mashal. The warning is in reaction to an audio tape where Mashal alluded to the possibility of an Israeli bombing campaign coming back, which infuriated Israeli authorities.
Israel is dedicated to "fulfilling Khaled Mashal's wish for death, along with his leadership colleagues, as soon as possible," as Katz made plain in his statement. He said the move will be taken this time "with no minor adjustments."
This tirade comes after Mashal's remarks during an Istanbul news conference hosted by the International Jerusalem Foundation. Mashal urged broad resistance and called for an increase of the war with Israel in his speech, while also applauding the revival of martyrdom operations in the West Bank.
Mashal also urged students to rekindle campus demonstrations and groups against international and American backing for Israel. In order to demand a halt to Israel's attack on Gaza and to denounce the support given by the United States and Western countries, he encouraged young Muslims to return to their colleges and organize a fresh wave of protests.
"As the school year begins and the first anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation approaches, we must prepare for a new uprising that will revive this movement and send a clear message to Washington and the world to stop the aggression on Gaza," Mashal said.
Mashal emphasized that Gaza must not face Israeli assault on its own and called on Arab and Islamic countries to go to the streets once again in solidarity of Gaza.
