ALBAWABA- An explosion rocked the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon following an Israeli air raid. Initial footage shows significant damage at the site, with ambulances rushing to assist the injured.
The Lebanese Army reported that Israeli forces opened fire on Tuesday at soldiers and civilians in the Yaroun-Maroun al-Ras area.
A statement from the army confirmed that one soldier and three civilians were injured during efforts to escort displaced residents back to their border towns.
"Amid ongoing Israeli aggression in southern border areas, the enemy fired at army personnel and citizens along the Yaroun-Maroun al-Ras road," the statement read.
The situation unfolds as the White House announced on Sunday an extension of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel until February 18, 2025.
The extension allows Israel additional time to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon, previously set for January 26 under the original agreement.
American-mediated talks have also begun concerning Lebanese prisoners held in Israel since October 7, 2023.
The Lebanese Army has facilitated the return of displaced residents to border towns, including Aita al-Shaab and Deir Seryan, while urging civilians to follow military guidance for their safety.
Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli military continues violations in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that Israeli strikes on Sunday and Monday resulted in 26 deaths, including six women, and 160 injuries, among them 14 women and 12 children.
Over the past two months, Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement have exceeded 671 incidents, leading to numerous casualties and significant destruction.
