budding young fashion designers in dubai are being given the chance to show off their artistic talents in the united colors of benetton kool kraft competition, held in conjunction with modesh fun city as part of dubai summer surprises.
children aged between seven and 14 are eligible to enter the competition where they will be tasked with designing an outfit for a boy and girl using a variety of materials including paint, pencil, crayon, glitter, ribbons, cloth, and fur.
“the aim of the kool kraft competition is to encourage the creativity of kids, and give them the opportunity to have some fun designing the next ‘big thing’ in fashion,” said ajai kumar dayal, general manager – retail and marketing, easa saleh al gurg group (esag), distributors for united colors of benetton in the uae.
“as a result of dubai’s booming art scene, young people in dubai are exposed more and more too new artistic concepts and visuals, and it’s encouraging to see so many young people taking an interest in art and fashion,” added dayal.
kool kraft competitors are provided with a pack that includes a drawing sheet and a variety of art materials. packs can be collected from benetton’s mall of the emirates, deira city centre and jumeirah centre stores.
in its fourth year, the kool kraft competition is expected to grab the attention of the local art and fashion communities, according to dayal: “it’s amazing to see what kids come up with when they have the opportunity and the materials to just go for it. it’s clear by the entries we receive year after year that we have some amazing imaginations and serious talent among the younger generation in dubai.”
first, second and third place winners of the kool kraft competition will be announced on 11 august and will be awarded a united colors of benetton gift voucher worth aed 2000, aed 1250, and aed 750, respectively. every child who enters will receive a certificate of participation.
the kool kraft competition closes 10 august, and entries can be submitted at benetton stores across dubai or the modesh fun city art and craft centre at dubai airport expo. entries submitted at modesh fun city will receive a united colors of benetton gift voucher worth aed 25, a gift (while stocks last) and a united colors of benetton membership card.
