ALBAWABA - The Kremlin announced on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be meeting U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Tuesday afternoon.

Witkoff and Putin are expected to discuss the peace proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump with the aim of ending the over three-year war between Russia and Ukraine.

The meeting comes following a previous one held between U.S. and Ukrainian officials on a plan that Washington said might stop fighting between Moscow and Kyiv.

"The meeting with Witkoff is planned for tomorrow," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press in a briefing on Monday, adding that the meeting is scheduled "in the second half of the day."

The announcement is in line with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the French capital, Paris, to meet his counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
