The FTTH Council Europe Middle East Working Group is pleased to announce that His Excellency, Eng. Charbel Nahhas, Minister of Telecommunications of the Republic of Lebanon has granted his Patronage to the second edition of the FTTH Middle East Conference, and is likely to give the opening speech of the event.

The conference is also supported by keynote speaker Dr. Imad Y. Hoballah, Acting Chairman and CEO of the Lebanese Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

"The TRA is pleased to fully support the 2nd FTTH Middle East Conference held in Lebanon. This event coincides with Lebanon's efforts for significant fibre expansion projects that extend from the core network, to the street cabinets, and to major customer premises, hoping that it will reach every home. In parallel, the TRA has undertaken the task to define the new building requirements that account for broadband connectivity including FTTH. The TRA is looking forward to the contribution of this conference towards raising the awareness of the importance of FTTH technology and its adoption towards the economy in general, the telecommunications industry in particular, and to improving the standard of living", declared Dr. Hoballah.

The 2-day event is to be held at the Mövenpick Hotel in Lebanon's capital city, Beirut on 30 November and 1 December with the theme "Taking your life to new horizons". The programme includes much-awaited sessions such as presentations of case studies from the Middle East and Europe, as well as the update and analysis of the Middle East FTTH market panorama. Other sessions will focus on regulatory issues, economic considerations and business case. In the exposition area, industry leaders will showcase the latest FTTH technologies and solutions.
