Weeks of massive flooding in Pakistan has resulted in catastrophic devastation across the country. According to the nation’s Disaster Authority, the death toll from the floods rose to 1,589 with more than 800,000 people displaced and in need of humanitarian aid.
Following the devastation, LG Electronics employees in Korea have banded together to raise the sum of US$33,800, by donating a percentage of their salaries. LG Electronics Pakistan has also partnered with registered NGOs in the country to provide those affected with food, shelter, medicine, clothes and other basic necessities. Going forward, LG Electronics Pakistan is also raising an additional sum of US$50,000 towards life-saving relief efforts.
The cheque towards flood relief efforts was presented to Pakistani Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul by Mr. Shin Un, Ambassador of South Korea in Pakistan Mr. Lee In Ki, Counselor General of the Korean Consulate in Karachi; Mr. Suyoung Ryu, General Manager LG Electronics Pakistan and Mr. Imran Zaki, Senior Manager Corporate Marketing LG Electronics.
