Melania Trump thanked the law enforcement personnel who put their lives in danger to keep her husband safe in a message posted on her X social media account.
"When I saw that dreadful bullet hit my husband Donald, I realized that our lives, mine and our son Barron's, were on the verge of a terrible event," she said. She denounced the assault, calling the perpetrator "a monster who viewed my husband as a political machine and tried to steal Donald's passion, laughter, creativity, love of music, and inspiration."
Melania Trump urged Americans to unite, highlighting the importance of love and family above divergent political ideologies and policies. She emphasized her husband's affectionate and giving personality and asked the country to put unity first.
