Visiting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met on Wednesday with Saudi King Fahd for talks on the future of the Middle East peace process and the war in Afghanistan, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During his visit of several hours to Riyadh, Mubarak discussed with Fahd "persepctives on bilateral cooperation, the situation in the region and the international scene, notably the Palestinian problem," said the agency.
The Arab leaders underlined the "need to establish peace and security in the region through an equitable resolution in Arab territories occupied" by Israel, the SPA added.
Mubarak met also during his short visit with Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Premier Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, said the SPA.
The two sides reviewed the current developments on the Arab, Islamic and international arenas, especially the Palestinian cause and the situation in the occupied Arab lands.
Mubarak exchanged with Prince Abdullah on ways of coordinating efforts to combat all types of terrorism.
Egypt has shown a noticeable interest in the Afghan issue since the retreat of the Taliban from several major cities, leaving them to the opposition North Alliance.
Reports say that hundreds of suspected Egyptian Islamists are fighting on the side of the Taliban in Kunduz and Kandahar, the last strongholds of the radical militia -Albawaba.com
