Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak left Sunday afternoon for Libya for a previously unannounced visit, during which he is due to hold talks with Libyan leader Muammar Kadhafi to discuss the international situation, Egypt satellite channel reported.

According to AFP, no indication was given by the presidency as to the length of this visit that follows meetings in Cairo between Mubarak and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.

The last visit to Libya by the Egyptian president was on April 12.

A high-level Egyptian delegation took part in Libya’s celebrations of September 1st revolution that brought Kadhafi to power in 1969.

Libya and Egypt have also drawn up a peace plan for the neighboring Sudan, aimed at bringing an end to an 18-year old civil war and internal conflict – Albawaba.com
