Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah stressed on Monday that he "would not give up the principle of true partnership within the framework of a national unity government." Nasrallah made the remark to a delegation from the Gathering of Muslim Ulemas. A statement issued by the gathering after the meeting said that the Shiite leader stressed that he "would not give up the principle of true partnership within the framework of a national unity government, through which the country would be run, and national dialogue would be held to provide answers to all concerns … expressed by the various sides to the Lebanese arena."

According to the statement, Nasrallah said he was "keen on inter-Muslim unity and he will always seek to abort attempts to kindle inter-Muslim violence, which he believes that the United States and Israel are trying to start." "The American agenda has started collapsing throughout the Muslim world … and would not manage to prevail over the Lebanese arena," the statement quoted Nasrallah as saying.

He also stated that Hizbullah’s armed wing is "ready to confront any crazy adventure carried out by the Zionist enemy that, God Willing, would face a stronger defeat than the one encountered during the July (2006) aggression, because the resistance is now stronger."
