nbad supports clean-up day

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), The Number One Bank in the UAE, announced TODAY that it will co-sponsor the Abu Dhabi “Clean-up UAE day”, which is organized by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). The clean-up will take place on 12 December 2007 at Ras Al Akhdar, Abu Dhabi.

Mr. Abdulla MS Abdul Raheem, Senior General Manager and Chief Operating Officer said: “This is the fourth year we have supported EEG and taken a sponsorship role in this very important event. The clean-up drive is an opportunity for us to connect with the community and to reiterate our commitment to the environment. This year we have NBAD’s people involved as volunteers, and have designed various environmental fun facts for the youngsters taking part.  The facts are linked to items they might collect during the clean-up and we hope the information will encourage discussion about reducing waste both in the classroom and at home.  We will also be distributing organic snacks to the participants to keep energy levels high amongst student volunteers.”

During 2008, NBAD will be embarking on a variety of new strategic programmes that will focus on sustainability and partnerships as well as a wider focus on stakeholder engagement.

“Whilst NBAD was the first local bank to publish a corporate social responsibility report, this marks only the beginning of our commitment. We realize that to maintain an effective CSR leadership role amongst the UAE business community, we need to continue raising the bar. We have set out on a path to becoming a socially responsible and sustainable organization, with the full understanding that the journey has no end.  We are committed to embedding CSR and sustainability into NBAD, whilst embarking on a programme of community investment that will be designed to make a significant impact to our community as a whole.  We plan to engage the heart of the communities in which we operate” he added.

“On this occasion, we look forward to joining all of the students and community in Abu Dhabi and working together in the 2007 clean-up campaign.  Together we will be working to create and maintain a clean and pleasant environment.  It is an opportunity for all of us to use the NBAD equation for the benefit of our living environment’ He concluded.
