NEC Computers completes its range of desktop PCs with the launch of the NEC PowerMate VL370. Flexible and upgradeable, it is offered with 3 different chassis for easy integration and takes future market evolution into account. This new professional platform stands out for its high performance levels and its attractive price.

Choice of chassis and environment-friendly
Organisations can opt for 3 different chassis based on the configuration of the work-space. As always it respects the environment, and NEC Computers designed an easily removable (tool-less) chassis which is also easily recyclable. It is very robust, and has proven its efficiency in the world of education as confirmed by the General Council of the French region of Val de Marne which has ordered close to 1000 units to equip the region’s schools.

Very quiet, the PowerMate VL370 is the ideal solution for classrooms and small offices. Its sound level reaches only 21 dB when in use – in other words it is inaudible when compared with environmental noise. It integrates a BTX format motherboard that optimises air-flow inside the frame and allows for improved thermal dissipation, and thus its components are better ventilated and power consumption is limited.

Upgradeable and High Performance
The PowerMate VL370 contains the latest AMD technology which guarantees a long lifetime and increased performance levels. It has a dual-core AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 processor which ensures efficient multi-tasking, and is especially powerful being managed by the AMD 690G chipset which allows for optimised use of Windows VistaTM.

Equipped with DDR2 memory, the NEC PowerMate VL370 has a SATA2 hard drive of between 80GB and 250GB and a RAID 0/1 controller which can either improve performance or increases the reliability of storage, depending on the selected mode. This new NEC Computers PC also introduces the ATI X1250 graphics card, with up to 256MB of shared memory, offering 33% more memory than its predecessor, the VL360.

Administrators will benefit from the long-life of the PowerMate VL370 which will be able to take quad-core AMD processors from Q1 2008. As with the entire PowerMate range, the VL370 can be configured to personalised requirements at the NEC industrial and technological plant in Angers, France. Different expandability options are available to the customer depending on the chassis type chosen.

Another functional advantage of this new desktop PC is that it also offers the possibility, without an additional video card, to use dual-screen display thanks to the standard integration of both VGA and DVI-D ports.
In summary, this will be the ideal multimedia station for educational centres thanks to the integrated High Definition audio controller which provides high quality sound, perfectly complementing the NEC LC17m or LC19m screens featuring integrated speakers.
