Nissan RJN Motorsport, the exclusively Nissan team that won the Silverstone Tourist Trophy last year, will be pressing for another victory at the 2008 24 Hours of Dubai taking place at the Dubai International Autodrome on Friday and Saturday (January 11-12).
The RJN Team have entered their GT4 Nissan 350Z race car with an international driver line-up, including Danish DTM star Kurt Thiim, Britain's Alex Buncombe and journalist drivers Holger Eckhardt and Richard Meaden.
The GT4 Nissan 350Z race car retains the many of the same production features that motorists can equally enjoy in their 350Zs on the streets of Dubai. The Nissan VQ35 3.5 litre engine produces the 375bhp needed to pull away from the competition, while the production gearbox and steering rack provides smooth control and steering where required to stay ahead of the crowd. Safety features such as ABS makes handling sudden hazards on the road that much easier.
The Nissan will run in its VLN configuration, which includes a rear wing and front splitter. This makes RJN fully competitive in the category, which is limited to 3,500cc. “I am hopeful of a top 10 finish and a podium in the class”, said Bob Neville, Team Principle of Nissan RJN Motorsport.
No fewer than 90 teams will be taking part in the third running of the race at the 5.4 kilometres circuit, the first major international motorsport event of 2008.
RJN Motorsport has notched an impressive record since being formed in 1999-2000, with wins in the FIA European Touring Car Championship, the Moroccan Rally, the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Silverstone title.
