Two Palestinian babies have died because of severe weather in the region, AFP has reported.
A two-month old girl from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza died on Friday after pulmonary complications due to the cold, Gaza’s health ministry said.
Another child, also from the town of Khan Yunis, passed away on Saturday. He’s been described as a two-month old baby boy by Ashraf al-Qudra, a health ministry spokesman.
Winter storms have battered Gaza, worsening the situation for many already lacking shelter because of Iast summer’s bombardment by Israel.
Many homes have been flooded because of heavy rain with some residents being evacuated to local schools. The town of Rafa, close to the Egyptian border, has been worst affected.
The cold snap has also killed at least four Syrians in Lebanon in recent days.
