An Israeli gunship helicopter on Monday fired a missile toward a car carrying four Palestinian activists, but missed and hit a nearby home instead. The incident took place in the West Bank city of Jenin. A Palestinian girl was reported wounded. The four were members of Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades.
Also in the West Bank, a Palestinian woman was killed early Monday when an Israeli settler ran her over in Qalqilya city, witnesses said. They told reporters that an Israeli vehicle ran Hasna Abu Farda 60, over, due to which she was killed. Abu Farda was on her way to Habla village, WAFA reported.
Meanwhile, a mother of a Palestinian prisoner from Nablus city died late on Sunday, suffering from a heart attack after going on a hunger strike in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners, behind Israeli bars, local sources said.
They told WAFA that 'Aisha al-Zibn, 55, died after suffering from a heart attack as she was going on a hunger strike for 16 days.
Residents from the city conveyed that al-Zibn was the mother of Ammar al-Zibn, a prisoner with 27 life-time imprisonments behind Israeli bars. Al-Zibn's son Bashaar was killed during the intifada broke out in 1987.
In Tubas, Israeli soldiers arrested five Palestinians in Tammoun after storming it, local sources said. The five included Sameer 35, Bassim 26, Kaied Bany Awda, Azmy Abdel Waly 26, and an unidentified fifth, the sources added.
In the Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical sources reported early Monday that an unidentified civilian was killed by Israeli fire in Abu Safiya area of Beit Hanoun city.
In Khan Younis, Palestinian medical sources reported that a civilian was wounded when Israeli troops opened heavy machineguns on houses in the area to the west of the city. Wissam Abu Zarka 19, was hit with shrapnel in the head, they added.
Also in the area, an Israeli was lightly wounded Monday morning by shots fired at an Israeli post close to the town of Khan Yunis, Haaretz reported. (albawaba.com)
